Report: Eagles and WR DeVonta Smith agree to three-year extension

As if there was any doubt, DeVonta Smith will remain in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.

Per multiple reports, the Eagles have agreed on a three-year, $75M contract extension with Smith that will keep him with the team through 2028.

The Eagles exercised Smith’s fifth-year option, which is worth roughly $15.6M in 2025, making his total contract four years, $90.6M.

Smith’s new extension puts him at the same average annual value ($25M) as fellow wide receiver AJ Brown.

GM Howie Roseman was smart to get ahead of the next wave of contracts, with Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Brandon Aiyuk, and Tee Higgins sure to command large deals and likely reset the market.

The Eagles have a well-established history of signing foundational players as early as possible, and the former Heisman Trophy winner was no different. Smith is arguably a top-10 player at his position, recording the most receiving yards of any player in their first three seasons in Eagles history (3,178).

Following Smith’s extension, the Eagles now have seven offensive starters under contract through at least 2026:

  • Jalen Hurts (2028)
  • DeVonta Smith (2028)
  • Landon Dickerson (2028)
  • Jordan Mailata (2028)
  • Lane Johnson (2026)
  • AJ Brown (2026)
  • Saquon Barkley (2026)

Philadelphia leaped the Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft to select Smith at No.10 overall and will now, at least, have the star receiver through his age 29 season.
