Pathetic: Knicks fans burn Joel Embiid jersey, act like they won NBA Finals after Game 1 victory over 76ers

New York Knicks fans are some of the most delusional people on the face of the planet. This is common knowledge at this point. So when they took to the streets of New York to praise their team in ridiculous fashion following their Game 1 victory over the 76ers, it shouldn’t have surprised anyone.

The Knicks narrowly beat the Sixers 111-104 in Game 1, thanks in large part to a Joel Embiid injury scare in the second quarter that effectively drained Philadelphia of all their momentum. The reigning MVP was dominant before exiting the game, scoring 15 points in the first quarter.

Even though he finished with a solid 29 points on the night, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Knicks. Kudos to New York for not choking this type of game away, I guess.

Nevertheless, seeing how Knicks fans reacted after the game really put it all into perspective. They simply don’t know what it feels like to win, at any level. So any win is a great win in their eyes.

They burned Joel Embiid’s jersey in the streets, chanted “We want Boston,” and even began chanting “Knicks in four.”

I get it. It’s the NBA playoffs, fans should be excited when their team wins. But it goes without saying that this is overkill. Your team, frankly, hasn’t done shit yet. One would think these people would’ve learned after they prematurely celebrated a few years back against the Atlanta Hawks, only for Tre Young to crush their souls in the end. If anything, their actions led to Young’s historic outing.

Sixers fans can only hope this type of behavior hits Embiid and the rest of the team like it did with Young and the Hawks.

Game 2 is scheduled for tonight at 7:30 from MSG. Let’s hope the Sixers come out with some heart so we don’t have to endure anymore of this idiocy from Knicks fans tonight.
