Sixers fans blame game

Blame Game: Sixers fans are mad about Knicks fans Wells Fargo Center “takeover” in Game 4 but anything outside of blaming the organization itself is simply incorrect

Sixers fans, I’m not going to sugarcoat it, I don’t really give a shit if Knicks fans “took over” the Wells Fargo Center during Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs.

If you want to be mad at anyone, blame the 76ers front office for organizational malpractice and continuously failing at building a championship roster around a generational talent that is Joel Embiid.

Before you even comment on the “takeover” situation review the questions below:

Why is anyone mad at Knicks fans who hit the secondary ticket market to snag tickets that were cheaper to pair with an easy train ticket to Philadelphia than attempting to purchase tickets at Madison Square Garden?

Why are you mad at Sixers fans, that have bought in to this team being serious contenders for nearly a decade, only to be hit with roster changes year after year followed by disappointing playoff performances in which their star player and franchise cornerstone, Joel Embiid, is never fully healthy?

Why isn’t anyone discussing the basic logistics and pricing? No one cares that even getting to the Wells Fargo Center has been and continues to be an absolute nightmare situation?

Who’s talking about the unbearable traffic conditions and general disdain in watching helicopters fly in 76ers ownership along with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for the game in the sky above while on the ground, you haven’t moved for over an hour – just feet from the entrance to a parking lot?

Who’s pissed off at Michael Rubin getting a police escort into the arena with zero care for everyone else trying to park at the Wells Fargo Center, creating even more of a traffic nightmare for the “common fan” trying to attend the game?

People want to talk tickets? How about the pricing for general admission to a playoff basketball game? Are you really mad at a Sixers fan that can get 3x the price they paid for their tickets, selling them on Ticketmaster to the highest bidder?

Why are fans, sitting online at home, that never had tickets to begin with criticizing other Sixers fans for selling their tickets to Knicks fans?

Am I going completely insane right now?

Here’s the deal, Sixers fans…

The 2023-24 Philadelphia 76ers was a year of basketball that was never supposed to produce a long playoff run. It’s funny how quickly people (myself included) forgot about that.

The 2023-24 NBA season was about regaining draft capital and awaiting the offseason where massive contracts (Tobias Harris) will fall off the books, giving Daryl Morey and the front office a perfect opportunity to properly build around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

Does it suck that the 76ers are getting beat by an inferior New York Knicks team? Absolutely.

Does it suck that Joel Embiid is yet again, playing injured and completely gassed by the time the game reaches the fourth quarter? Absolutely.

Is it easy to turn around and blame officiating for basically handing the New York Knicks Game 2 based on a few horrible missed calls in the final 30 seconds? Absolutely.

Does it suck watching the scum of the earth in Knicks fans chant “fuck Embiid” in South Philadelphia? Absolutely.

I understand all of that. Clear as day.

But to turn around after losing Game 4 at home and have fans blaming fans is just a classic deflection of emotion. We have suffered through years of disappointing playoff appearances by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Even with Joel Embiid, who said postgame that he loved fans while also questioning as to why Knicks fans were able to takeover the Wells Fargo Center, was playing on one leg while batting through Bell’s Palsy.

I understand his frustration. Why wouldn’t he be pissed off that this type of shit was happening inside the Wells Fargo Center while outside, Knicks fans were disrespecting his team and basketball lure as a whole by putting one of their jerseys on the Wilt Chamberlain statue?

Embiid managed to lead the Sixers with a 50-point game in Game 3 win and even yesterday, while having a rough final quarter, he managed to finish with Embiid finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Was it Embiid at his best? Of course not – but that was expected given the situation in which he was playing through. So no, I’m not going to criticize Embiid for being frustrated. He has every right to be pissed not only with himself, but the entire Philadelphia 76ers organization for what’s happened not only this year, but in year’s past.

We are now on the brink of the 7TH STRAIGHT “early exit” from the NBA playoffs after this organization has promised us an NBA Championship after years of the dreadful “Process” has literally only produced us with Embiid himself. Of course he’s pissed off.

That doesn’t even consider the fact that the Philadelphia 76ers for the second game in this series (Game 2) played like absolute dog shit in the final minutes of the game.

Point being – Sixers fans can blame whoever they want but before turning on other Sixers fans, make sure ownership, the NBA, and most importantly, the Philadelphia 76ers team as a whole hear it first.

Sixers fans should take a close look at the Phillies ownership for how things are supposed to look during the playoffs

Not to mention, the New York Knicks are still ASS – we’ll see how the 76ers respond after a rough Game 4 loss but I still believe this series is going 6 or 7 games. I’m sick in the head, but at least I know how to control my emotions by properly analyzing the situation above.
