Resident Eagles hater Nick Wright says Howie Roseman is overrated, can’t back it up with actual evidence

FS1’s Nick Wright is one of the most bias commentators in the sports media world today. Like most, some of his hottest takes involve our Philadelphia Eagles.

Ever since his Kansas City Chiefs faced the Eagles in the Super Bowl two years ago, Wright has been on a real anti-Eagles kick. He’s thrown shade at Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni, and really, the entire organization as a whole.

His latest dumb take came following the 2024 NFL Draft, after he saw nearly every media outlet praise Howie Roseman for the job he did during draft weekend. In short, Wright called Howie’s drafts overrated and that we should all stop praising him as much.

In certain ways, I agree with the overall message Wright is trying to say here…. I think. We shouldn’t judge drafts immediately after they conclude. That should be common sense but unfortunately, it’s not. Realistically, you can’t really form an accurate draft grade until three years after the fact, minimum.

So, that brings me to where I disagree with Wright. Saying the Eagles missed on players in last year’s draft or the year prior simply isn’t true. Especially when you look back at some of the stuff Wright said at the time of the draft picks.

Last year, he was all in on his Chiefs taking Nolan Smith after he slid toward the bottom of the first-round. Now, because the Eagles drafted him, well, he’s a bum. Hard hitting journalism right here.

I’m sure if the Chiefs did end up taking Smith, Wright’s sentiment on the kid would sound a lot different. More of a, “Well, it’s only been one year and he should be afforded more time to develop,” type of statement.

Above all else, to act like Howie Roseman has always been heralded as a draft wizard is hilarious. Nobody thought that of Howie until last year’s draft. Before that, the general consensus was that the Eagles GM was great at manipulating the cap, but couldn’t land any star talent through the draft.

Not only was that the national consensus on Howie, it’s exactly how Eagles fans felt as well.

At the end of the day, we all know why these national pundits constantly spew high praise or volatile negativity about the Eagles. It’s because we eat that shit up. We give them clicks, and in turn, pay their bills. Never take this kind of stuff seriously. They’re unserious people.
