Brewers Benches clear in Milwaukee

WATCH: Benches clear in Brewers-Rays game after Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy loses his mind

Major League Baseball issued some pretty significant suspensions stemming from Tuesday’s brawl between the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers.

First, we’ll breakdown the entire situation, mainly focused around Rays’ outfielder Jose Siri and Freddy Peralta. The Brewers were upset that Siri hit a 452 foot home run off them and rounded the bases like an asshole.

Jose Siri’s annoying home run trot vs Brewers

Trust me, I get the “act like you’ve been there before” narrative from Brewers fans. Unfortunately, for Jose Siri at least, it’s tough to do that since he’s hitting just .186 on the season with two home runs and seven RBI.

Still, you can’t have that nonsense on the base paths. I understand Siri’s excitement but at the same time, get it together. The shit talking after the home run before he even got to first base, the slow trot around the bases, an extra skip or two and the whole “touch the sky” routine at home plate obviously pissed off the Brewers.

As Drake once said, “Bench players acting like they’re starters and I hate it.”

In his next at-bat, Freddy Peralta goes slider away, fastball in, and fastball down – all of which were thrown for clear balls. With a 3-0 count, Siri is looking at Peralta, shaking his head and with a few chirps in the pitcher’s direction.

Again, the Brewers are leading 6-1 in this baseball game and Freddy Peralta is no slouch. The only move here is to send a message and shut this nobody up. Freddy did just that, plunking Siri in the leg.

The umpire was having none of it and tossed Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy and Freddy Peralta from the baseball game. The only problem so far is the fact that the umpires didn’t provide any type of warning or anything to Peralta or the Brewers dugout before the ejection. Outside of that, anyone pretending like Peralta didn’t intentionally hit Jose Siri is lying to themselves.

With the Brewers leading 8-2 in the top of the 8th. Siri stepped up to the plate again, this time against Brewers’ reliever Abner Uribe. He hit a soft ground ball to Rhys Hoskins for the out – with Uribe covering the bag.

Uribe and Siri started chirping at each other following the out and before anyone could ease the tension, the two started fighting, which turned into an all-out brawl with both benches clearing.

Mandatory Shoutout to Rhys Hoskins – who was having none of it.

As for the fight itself, well, it was pretty freaking horrible. I don’t think a single punch was landed but I will credit Uribe for attempting the open-hand slap.

Both Uribe and Siri were ejected from the game. The Brewers held on to an 8-2 win over the Rays which was a nice bounce-back win after the previous matchup ended with a controversial ruling on a 9th inning passed ball from Rays catcher Rene Pinto.

The Brewers’ game-tying run in the bottom of the 9th was erased

The Brewers’ game-tying run in the bottom of the 9th was erased because Jake Bauers’ bat hit the catcher on his back swing. Pat Murphy was ejected for the first time as a manager as a result.

The Brewers currently hold a half-game lead over the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central. As for the Rays, they are just 14-17 on the season, sitting at the bottom of the American League East standings.

Suspensions:

  • Abner Uribe: 6 games
  • Freddy Peralta: 5 games
  • Jose Siri: 3 games
  • Manager Pat Murphy: 2 games
