Patrick Beverley, Milwaukee Bucks apologize to Malinda Adams of ESPN following locker room incident after Game 6
Patrick Beverley and the Milwaukee Bucks had a rough Thursday night. First, the Bucks were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs at the hands of the Indiana Pacers, losing Game 6 by a final score of 120-98.
With just over two minutes remaining in the game, Pat Bev was throwing a basketball at Pacers fans who were making “Cancun” jokes as the Bucks broke from a huddle, and following the game, the trouble continued after an interaction with a female member of the media went as poorly as anyone could have imagined.
Malinda Adams of ESPN attempted to ask Patrick Beverley a question but he shut her down after learning that he was not subscribed to his podcast, “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone”, presented by Barstool Sports.
When Adams responded with a “no”, Pat Bev directed his attention to other reporters in the locker room.
Honestly, I didn’t really think much of it but of course, with Pat Bev seemingly shutting down a “female reporter” in the locker room, the feminists and really anyone looking for engagement (Brian Windhorst) online had a field day with this video clip.
Patrick Beverley ignores Malinda Adams because she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast
Honestly, I think Patrick Beverley would have responded to anyone in that moment the same way. Adams was right next to him and he was just being his typical smart-ass self. Regardless, he reached out to Malinda Adams following the incident and apologized for the way he spoke to her so no harm, no foul in my book.
If anything, I think throwing a basketball at a fan for chanting Cancun is worse. Pat Bev can’t be the guy who talks a bunch of shit and then gets mad when someone does it to him. Should he treat the media like that in the locker room? Of course not but again, I think Pat Bev would have given anyone the same treatment in that situation.
