WATCH: Steve Smith gives scathing review of Eagles rookie WR Johnny Wilson

Steve Smith isn’t afraid to share his opinion. He wasn’t shy on the field and he sure as hell hasn’t changed since becoming an NFL analyst.

Leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, Smith had a scathing review of the Eagles new rookie wideout Johnny Wilson.

“This is where some people are going to get a little butthurt,” Smith says. “[Wilson] is not a good multitasker. That boy can’t chew gum and tie his shoes at the same time. When you look at the size, 6-foot-7, 237 pounds, we hear this word — we heard it about a lot of people — ‘he’s a freak.’ Maybe at night, but it ain’t on the football field.”

I have no idea what prompted Steve Smith to say this, or if this is just his opinion from afar. By the tone in his voice and the way he delivers it, this doesn’t feel like an opinion formed by just watching tape.

Even though this clip is from February, it’s been doing its round around Eagles Twitter as of late. Wilson was the Eagles fifth-round selection this year, so expectations are already going to be pretty low for the guy. These comments from Steve Smith certainly won’t help his cause.
