University of South Florida utilized an INSANE shift on Gators’ Jac Caglianone, which the baseball world hasn’t seen Ryan Howard was at the dish
Last night, the University of South Florida utilized an insane shift in effort to stop Florida slugger Jac Caglianone.
The Bulls opted abandon the left side of the infield. They had 4 outfielders playing the warning track in right and kept two players on the right side of the infield and another in shallow-right field.
USF shift on Florida’s Jac Caglianone
Caglianone is batting .412 with the Gators – crushing 27 home runs with 54 RBI through 48 games this season.
In College Baseball, you can still utilize the shift but that won’t be able to slow down Jac Caglianone when he finally gets the call to “The Show” since that is now banned.
Actually, looking at last night’s Box Score, the USF shift on Caglianone didn’t work either. He went 2-for-4 with a homer and an RBI. I personally haven’t seen a shift this bad since Major League Baseball’s coup d’état to kill Phillies’ legend Ryan Howard’s Hall of Fame Career.
MLB Coup D’état: Ryan Howard
Jac Caglianone is expected to be one of the top picks in the 2024 MLB Draft – with a ton of chatter about him going No. 1 overall which is currently held by the Cleveland Guardians, followed by the Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies.
