I’ve been praying on the downfall of Mets’ closer Edwin Diaz and in 2024, it appears my prayers have finally been answered.

To be honest, I’m just constantly writing about Edwin Diaz being horrible this season because of the trumpets that plagued the game I love for way too long. That had to be the most annoying part of any baseball season in recent memory.

Thankfully, Diaz did return to his roots in Miami but only because he started pointing to the sky again calling for a routine fly after allowing a massive home run in the 9th inning – blowing a save in the process.

Last night, Diaz had two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Miami Marlins. The Mets were beating the Fish 9-6. Known Phillies killer Josh Bell stepped up to the plate and absolutely destroyed a 90 mph slider from Edwin Diaz that hung over the bottom center of the strike zone to tie the ballgame 9-9.

Edwin Diaz, pointed to the sky as if Bell, who again, hit a “no doubter” to deep center, popped out on a routine flyer.

Maybe someone should call Steve Cohen and find out if he still expects his team to be in the playoffs? His baseball team led the Marlins 7-2 and 9-2 during last night’s game and still managed to lose the game 10-9.

The Mets are currently 12 games behind the Phillies and in fourth place in the NL East Standings at 20-25 on the season.
