New Eagles OC Kellen Moore: “There will be changes to the offense”
For the first time since his hiring, new Eagles OC Kellen Moore addressed the media on Thursday afternoon and gave some insight into what he will bring to the offense in 2024.
Moore noted that changes are coming to a scheme that became incredibly stale last season but doesn’t want to lose the productive elements either.
“I think everyone’s got their different flavor from a systematic approach,” Moore said. “Our real focus here, as we’ve gone through this process, is we’ve got a lot of good going on.
We can’t lose the good in the reps that [quarterback] Jalen [Hurts] and [wide receiver] A.J. [Brown] have developed and [tight end] Dallas [Goedert] has developed and this offensive line has developed.
How can we build off of those things and really connect the whole thing. That’s been a really fun process. There will be tweaks. There will be changes. Everything is constantly evolving. That’s part of this whole off-season program.”
When asked about pre-snap motion, Moore laid out the benefits and plans to use motion moving forward.
“It’s always kind of stuck with me. There’s obviously advantages to it. There’s some things that you’re trying to gather information for the defense, and there’s other times you’re simply stressing the defense. So I think there’s those two elements.”
Those are welcome words to Eagles fans. The Chargers ranked 8th in pre-snap motion rate with Kellen Moore as OC — the Eagles were dead last in that category.
Moore will continue to install his system throughout OTAs and training camp this summer.
