Sixers Free Agent Backup Plan: The 1 Target that could see a reunion with Nick Nurse
The Sixers are poised to be one of the top players in free agency this offseason. While the primary target appears to be the LA Clippers star Paul George, an insider has suggested another potential candidate they might pursue.
In a recent piece for SNY, Ian Begley broke down some of the New York Knicks’ biggest decisions this summer. OG Anunoby, who currently has a player option for next season at $19.9 million, could become a free agent.

In the section where Begley discussed Anunoby’s future, he mentioned that the Sixers might present a lucrative offer to him in free agency. He believes that if their efforts to acquire Paul George don’t fall through, they could shift their focus to the Knicks forward.
Prior to being traded to the Knicks, Anunoby was frequently rumored to be a potential target for the Sixers, particularly using assets from the James Harden trade. In his 23 games with New York, Anunoby averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 39.4% from three.
Anunoby would be fantastic for the Sixers. His versatility on defense and the ability to play on the perimeter make him the ideal third option alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. It will be very interesting to see how negotiations play out for this free-agent class of forwards, and hopefully, Philadelphia will be able to land one.
