Joe Giglio Edmundo Sosa

94.1 WIP radio host Joe Giglio wants Trea Turner to play in the outfield so Edmundo Sosa can start at shortstop

94.1 WIP Philly Sports Talk Radio host Joe Giglio doesn’t seem to care (or realize) that the Philadelphia Phillies are the best team in Major League Baseball.

In the latest edition of “Joe Giglio is an Idiot” the radio host is suggesting that Trea Turner moves to the outfield so that Edmundo Sosa can take the starting position at shortstop.

Joe Giglio wants Trea Turner to play in the outfield so Edmundo Sosa can start at 3rd base

“I just keep thinking about what the Phillies lack and that’s an outfielder that can hit. We know Trea can hit and right now Sosa is too good to take out of the lineup.”

Joe please, do us all a favor and stop thinking about the Phillies.

On top of that, maybe just stop thinking about Philly sports in general. That might be the only viable option at this point, right?

Trust me, I understand that summer is finally here and we are crawling through a very slow sports news cycle but this is just ridiculous.

Giglio, time and time again, proves that he is the ultimate loser.

One week, he thinks the Philadelphia Phillies aren’t contenders. The next? He says that they are basically a lock to win the 2024 World Series. He even said that the Phillies can’t hit home runs and Bryce Harper hasn’t “sniffed” hitting 30 since he joined the Phillies.

That was on April 16th which even at that time, we knew was complete bullshit.

In his final year with the Washington Nationals, Bryce Harper hit 34 home runs. He followed that up by hitting 36 home runs in his debut season with the Philadelphia Phillies. From there, 2020 was the COVID season, where Harp hit 13 homers in 58 games.

Harper hit 35 home runs in 2021. He hit 18 homers in 2022 while basically playing half of the regular season and last year, he hit 21 in 126 games after a miracle recovery from shoulder surgery.

Trea Turner in the Outfield…? LOL

For those who need additional clarification, Trea Turner is not going to move to the outfield so Edmundo Sosa can play shortstop. That’s just a ridiculous statement. It reminds me of when Gabe Kapler tried to play Rhys Hoskins in left field (lol).

Yes, I’m aware that Sosa is batting .325 with a 1.000 OPS. He has three home runs and 13 RBI in 80 at-bats this season. That’s fantastic for a bench guy filling in for Trea Turner.

At the same time, is moving Trea Turner to the outfield the right move to keep Sosa in the lineup because of his batting average? It’s not like Sosa is racking up RBIs. In fact, he’s only had 80 at-bats and is a career .259 hitter.

The obvious answer is no but let’s be nice to Joe Giglio for a second and entertain his dumb idea.

IF the Phillies were going to entertain something like this, then the obvious move would be to send Bryce Harper to the outfield, Bohm to first base, and Sosa to third base.

At most, Edmundo Sosa can play in the outfield. You don’t move your $300 million shortstop to a new position coming off the injured list. It’s honestly embarrassing that I even have to write this article.

I know I sound like a broken record but everyone just needs to stop listening to Philly Sports Talk Radio. It’s just a bunch of nonsense and when specifically talking about Joe Giglio, it’s embarrassing.
