Phillies Roster Moves: Brandon Marsh, Kody Clemens head to the Injured List, 2 players get the call from Lehigh Valley
The Philadelphia Phillies announced a few roster moves today ahead of tonight’s series opener of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Brandon Marsh will head to the 10-Day Injured List after straining his right hamstring in last night’s 5-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Kody Clemens on the 10-Day Injured List(retroactive to 5/31) with low back spasms.
The Phillies selected the contract of outfielder David Dahl from Triple A Lehigh Valley. The Phillies will transfer right-handed pitcher Michael Rucker to the 60-Day Injured List and also recall Weston Wilson.
Phillies Roster Moves: Brandon Marsh, Kody Clemens head to IL, Weston Wilson (ew) and David Dahl get the nod from Lehigh Valley
David Dahl is 30 years old. He’s having a great season in Triple A Lehigh Valley, batting .340 with a 1.076 OPS, with 12 home runs and 26 RBI.
Weston Wilson, who I’m sure everyone is much more familiar with, will also join the Phillies in the midst of a miserable season in Triple A Lehigh Valley where he’s batting .211 with a .684 OPS.
It’s easy to make the case for David Dahl given his numbers in Lehigh Valley this season. Weston Wilson, however, is going to be a strong “no” from me – even more so when you have Scott Kingery who’s playing much better than him with the IronPigs this season.
Just last week, I wrote an article saying the Phillies need to bring up Scott Kingery this season. The fact that they are blatantly ignoring him in favor of Weston Wilson is a disservice to this baseball team.
The Last Dance: It’s time to give Scott Kingery the storybook ending he deserves >>
Scott Kingery has been on an absolute tear this season in Triple A Leigh Valley. While flashes of Jetpax SZN have become a common occurrence over the past few seasons, the Phillies have basically refused to call him up.
Just three days ago, Kingery crushed his 11th homer of the season and now is up to 27 RBI with seven bags swiped over 45 games played.
Scotty Jetpax is batting .244 with a .802 OPS. He has 11 home runs and 27 RBI with seven stolen bases on the year!
Weston Wilson is TRASH and to be VERY CLEAR, along with him, Rodolfo Castro, Darick Hall and Jose Rodriguez are not doing anything at the major league level for the Phillies this season – and honestly, they won’t do anything in the future either.
STOP THE MADNESS. GIVE SCOTT KINGERY HIS FLOWERS.
All I’m saying – is that the Philadelphia Phillies should consider getting Kingery on the 40-man roster. From there, who knows what could happen? Personally, I think it would be a storybook ending to Jetpax SZN that fans like myself have long been waiting for.
