Eagles Notes: Kelee Ringo was ‘best CB on the field’ during mandatory minicamp
The Eagles have an abundance of corner talent on their 90-man roster, but one player is shining above the rest.
After being selected in the fourth round of the 2023 draft, CB Kelee Ringo didn’t see much action to begin the season in Philadelphia. Once injuries and defensive struggles provided an opportunity for Ringo, he didn’t disappoint.
The former Georgia Bulldog logged 198 defensive snaps and four starts in the final five regular season games. He made a game-clinching interception in the Eagles’ Christmas Day game against the Giants and at just 21 years old, Ringo is only scratching the surface.
“Having a year under my belt has definitely helped me be more calm with my play and helping me learn what strategies they’re using against me,” Ringo said. “I’m a little more patient, I’m processing the game more and not having to think as much as I used to. I just feel I’m playing faster and thinking less.
“I thought I played pretty decent, but I feel like there is always room to get better, specifically at the corner position. I feel like it’s one of the hardest positions on the field. Little things like coming out of my breaks, being able to see what offenses are doing against me, seeing formations, and just learning concepts and things like that can definitely help you play at a higher level than I did last year.”
Ringo continued to impress in the Eagles’ mandatory minicamp, where reporters in attendance claimed he was ‘the best cornerback on the field.’
“I try not to overrate spring. I thought Kelee Ringo was the best CB on the field.

I’m not handing the spot to Quinyon Mitchell…if you’re Vic Fangio, you say I want to player who can help us beat the Packers, I don’t care who was drafted when.” –@SheilKapadia on @WIPMorningShow pic.twitter.com/TUHB2w1kRI
Standing out in a CB group consisting of six-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay and top rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean is no easy feat, but Ringo is welcoming the competition.
“It’s a great opportunity to compete and work,” Ringo said. “Of course, every single player in the building is a great player. It’s ultimately going to make our group better. Everything is up for grabs.”
If first-round pick Quinyon Mitchell isn’t ready to start come Week 1, Ringo is firmly in the mix to play opposite Slay in the secondary. Ringo finished the 2023 season with 21 tackles, two passes defensed, one sack and one interception.
“Kelee is difficult at times going against him. I go against him a lot. He’s definitely growing. You can see a different step with him,” Eagles WR A.J. Brown said. “He’s hungry and he’s competing at a high level.”
