With the 41st pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the 76ers select… Adem Bona.

UCLA product Adem Bona seems set to be quite the addition to the Sixers bench:

Adem Bona will be the best backup in Joel Embiid’s Sixers career. Pure energy and hustle.

When it comes to Kevin O’Connor, I usually immediately dislike anything he likes. So, considering I’m not an NBA draft aficionado, I immediately hated this pick solely to contradict his effusive praise.

But, after some thinking and reading some hilarious tweets, I’m all in on Adem Bona. Not only is his high motor the exact thing this team lacks, his name yields countless opportunities for puns, which is an immature sports blogger’s dream.

In all seriousness, though, it’s hard not to love this pick. High effort, high character guys are few and far between in the modern NBA.

For too long we’ve seen this team flounder when Embiid is on the bench and get abused on both the offensive and defensive glass. This guy isn’t the solution to all of our problems, but he’s a move in the right direction.

Plus he’s excited to meet Joel Embiid. He’s just like me for real.
