Klay Thompson Philadelphia 76ers

In the latest desperation move from the Philadelphia 76ers, Daryl Morey & Co. are now considering Klay Thompson in free agency

Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors have yet to figure out a new contract as the official start of NBA Free Agency begins on Sunday, June 30th.

That of course, has caught the attention of the Daryl Morey and the 76ers, who are still failing miserably in trying to convince free agents to come to Philadelphia this summer.

With $60 million in available cap space and currently just three players on the active roster, Daryl Morey and the rest of the brain-dead idiots in the 76ers front office have some work to do and Klay Thompson at the right price could be part of it.

Report: Philadelphia 76ers have interest in Klay Thompson

Thompson has definitely lost a step on the basketball court. Is he washed? Maybe but numbers from last season show that he can still make buckets. Thompson shot 38.7% from beyond the arc last season with Golden State while averaging 17.9 points per game – his worst mark in over a decade.

Now that is the perfect player that is a perfect target for the smug, lazy 76ers GM, Daryl Morey.

Honestly, I’m fed up with the Philadelphia 76ers. They get more embarrassing by the day and the fact that Morey and company still don’t appear to have any type of strategy or game plan this summer, with Joel Embiid in his prime and Tyrese Maxey on the verge of becoming a superstar in the NBA, is absolutely ridiculous and frankly, a fireable offense.

Klay Thompson is not going to move the needle for the 76ers but could possibly serve as a piece to the puzzle if the price is right. Outside of that, I’m not sure any one on the free agent market is enticing enough to spend money on.

Daryl Morey wanted a superstar signing this summer but his targets are reportedly all staying with their current teams.

  • LeBron James is staying in Los Angeles.
  • Paul George doesn’t appear to be leaving the Clippers.
  • Jimmy Butler doesn’t want to be traded from Miami.

From there, you have reports that Jerami Grant out in Portland could return to Philadelphia. Is anyone really excited by that news? Didn’t think so.

Personally, the only player that I find to be intriguing and “available” would be Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Outside of that, we’re looking at another “holdover” year from the 76ers which I think we can all agree, will do nothing to recapture the hearts of basketball fans in Philadelphia.
