Shohei Ohtani Home Run Young Fans Face

WATCH: Shohei Ohtani crushes 27th home run of the season, drills young fan directly in the face

Shohei Ohtani crushed his 27th home run of the season earlier this week and unfortunately, the baseball ended up being a direct shot on the head of a young fan.

Ohtani’s two-run dinger in the 7th inning gave the Dodgers a 4-3 lead and an eventual 6-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night.

The 433-foot moonshot from Ohtani had fans laser-focused on hauling in the baseball out in the stands. Instead of making the catch, the baseball ended up drilling a young fan seated in between the grown men who failed miserably in their attempts to retrieve it.

The video, while funny, also looked incredibly painful.

Shohei Ohtani: Home Run Ball Drills Young Fan in the Head

That’s a Shohei Ohtani home run baseball with an exit-velo of 112 mph drilling you right in the face.

While it’s unknown what the severity of the damage was to the young fan’s head, it reminded me of the Toronto Blue Jays fan who took a 110 mph fastball from Bo Bichette straight to the dome earlier this year. Her injuries were brutal so I’m expecting the same for this fan.

Ohtani is batting .316 on the season with 27 home runs and 64 RBI. His 1.035 OPS is second in MLB behind only Aaron Judge’s 1.135.

Irony: Just last week, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ bat boy recently saved Ohtani from being drilled in the head with a line drive (video here). Unfortunately, a group of grown adults were too focused on trying to catch the home run ball from Ohtani rather than protecting America’s youth. Hate to see it.
