WATCH: New Sixers forward Caleb Martin and known playoff riser torches the Boston Celtics

Sixers fans, get excited! Daryl Morey has been having quite the offseason, and to add to all the improvements made to the roster, this Saturday morning, he signed Caleb Martin, a former small forward for the Miami Heat.

Another versatile player who can shoot it and switch on defense. The 6-5 forward averaged 10 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last season with the Miami Heat. However, his best trait is his ability to rise in the NBA Playoffs, most notably against the Boston Celtics.

Why Sixers fans should love this signing

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Martin has averaged 13.6 points, 50 percent shooting and 44 percent on three-pointers vs. the Celtics (including regular season and playoffs). Which is his most points per game vs an Eastern Conference opponent in the past two seasons.

To me, it sounds a lot like a budget Jimmy Butler, right? Alright, I’m sorry for getting so carried away. But this is the exact type of player any team would want entering the postseason, and it is a much-needed addition for the Sixers.
