Spike Eskin: ‘Daryl Morey is as good a GM as Howie Roseman, maybe even better’

A lot of dumb stuff comes out of the 94WIP hosts’ mouths nowadays, especially since Spike Eskin has landed a gig there.

After Sixers GM Daryl Morey put together a great offseason, Spike Eskin now thinks he deserves an apology from the Philly fanbase, stating that Morey, “is as good a GM as Howie Roseman, maybe even better.”

When he got here, he has turned a core, aside from Joel Embiid, of Ben Simmons, Al Horford, and Tobias Harris, into Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, Caleb Martin, along with four first-round picks. And he was able to do it because he’s patient, he had a plan, and he executed the plan.

So with the Sixers, we have as good an executive as Howie Roseman. All I hear in this city is, ‘Howie Howie Howie Howie,’ and Howie’s a great GM. But we should be happy that with the Philadelphia 76ers, we have a GM who is every bit as good as Howie Roseman, maybe even better.”

Two things can be true at the same time. A novel concept for Spike Eskin and the crew over at WIP, but it’s true.

Did Daryl Morey put together a great offseason that should have us excited for next season? Yes.

Does one good offseason make him the best GM in the city? No.

At the end of the day, the results speak for themselves and judging an offseason before the following season gets underway is always a foolish exercise.

Paul George could be washed. Fans are only excited about Caleb Martin because he puts up great numbers against Boston. And, above all else, Joel Embiid is still a career choke artist in the playoffs. The best player on the team has consistently shrunk in big moments. Now 30 years old with a long track record of injury, it’s hard to imagine it turning around. Love the big guy, but just call a spade a spade.

Spike Eskin wants viral hits, so he says dumb shit to piss people off. Like I said, just call a spade a spade.
