Watch: Joel Embiid wins bet against Lebron James during US Men’s National Team practice
While there has been a bunch of doubters, Joel Embiid joining the U.S. Men’s National team was always the right decision.
The best big man in the league gets to join forces with a roster stacked with the other NBA’s best and just in general, being around a winning culture and interacting with players that have won NBA championships, with the opportunity to win a Gold Medal on the world stage, is the perfect opportunity for him to be a part of a winning culture – something that he’s lacked, specifically in the playoffs, since being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Team USA are in the midst of preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. While the entire team is clearly focused on winning a gold medal in Paris, the vibes are also at all-time high.
In a video released by the Team USA account on Twitter, Embiid was seen hitting a tough left-handed shot in some sort of competition against his peers, including Lebron James.

The video showed James attempting a left-handed shot, missing, and then throwing the ball in frustration. Embiid then drained a left-handed shot after some warm-up attempts, causing a commotion among the players.
You love to see it.
While this was all for fun, you’ve got to love our superstar going at some of the best players in the world in practice. We spend so much time getting angry and setting such high expectations that we forget to enjoy the athletes we have while they are here – the great ones, at least.
Also, for all of the cringe and dorky people of the internet that attempted to clown Embiid for fouling out of the exhibition game the other day, please keep that same energy when the big fellow ultimately carries the team when they matchup against France.
His skill set is absolutely needed on this team. We already witnessed him drop 70 points on Wemby’s head during the regular season last year, and when games start getting competitive, the world will be able to watch Joel Embiid in all his glory on the biggest stage outside of the United States.
