WATCH: Saquon Barkley puts on a dazzling route-running display in latest Instagram post; could this be a preview of the Eagles new offense?
Saquon Barkley signing with the Philadelphia Eagles remains to be arguably the most shocking move of the NFL offseason.
With that said, it feels like the football world is letting a move this significant go under the radar. Part of me likes it, but the other part of me feels like football fans aren’t giving the Eagles the respect they deserve.
The Eagles are bringing Saquon Barkley into an offense that already consists of two elite receivers in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, along with one of the NFL’s top offensive line units.
Add Jalen Hurts, who was in the MVP race for the majority of last season when he was a year removed from a trip in the Super Bowl and I find it hard to believe that the Birds won’t have one of the most dominant offenses in all of football.
What makes this addition for the Eagles so dangerous is obviously the run-game/read option with Hurts and Barkley’s ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, giving them another threat offensively. All of which, leads to what Saquon Barkley posted on Instagram today.

One of the many things that held back the Eagles’ offense last year was it’s inability to get quick and easy concepts for Jalen Hurts in the passing game. It felt like they almost never utilized the running backs in the screen game or check-down’s whatsoever.
Brining in Kellen Moore to man the play-calling and designing duties should help that a ton and giving him Saquon Barkley, I imagine won’t hurt much either.
There will be a ton of eyes on this Eagles offense as we head into training camp as well as preseason.
- Will they use motion?
- Will they target the middle of the field?
- What will Saquon Barkely’s role be in this offense?
Answers are coming.
Players report for training camp on July 23rd at the NovaCare Complex in South Philadelphia.
