Matt Carpenter Donald Trump Cardinals Celebration

Celly Gate: St. Louis Cardinals, Matt Carpenter deny that the Alec Burleson home run celebration was in honor of Donald Trump

The St. Louis Cardinals received a ton of negative attention over the weekend after celebrating Alec Burleson hitting a home run with what appeared to be an ode to Donald Trump.

The St. Louis Cardinals introduced Major League Baseball to the Trump Celly, after Alec Burleson took starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach deep for a solo home run in the second inning.

When Burleson rounded third base, the broadcast showed the Cardinals dugout, all of which had their hands on their right ears while holding up their left fists, a reference to Trump’s ear wound and the pose he made before being removed from the stage

The Community Notes on the post above are hard at work trying to say it’s not in honor of Donald Trump. On top of that, even Matt Carpenter came out and told a reporter over at the New York Times and St. Louis Post-Dispatch (mouthful) that the celebration wasn’t for Trump but rather for Burleson, who was a rapper in college.

Matt Carpenter claims celly had nothing to do with Donald Trump

Before we get into it, I want to ask you a simple question: What is a bigger lie?

Option 1: Thomas Crooks was a lone gunman that managed to bring an AR-15, ammo, and a 12 foot ladder to climb on top of a roof, where Secret Service and local authorities were on the first floor, and fired off three shots at the head of former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, PA.

Option 2: Matt Carpenter says that the Cardinals celebration was simply mimicking a DJ with headphones and had zero relation to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Trick question. They are both blatant lies.

Sorry but when it’s the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the New York Times as the only two media outlets picking up the Trump denial then everyone has a right to be skeptical.

It shouldn’t be an issue anyways. Somebody literally tried to kill Donald Trump. He survived. That’s a good thing. No other comments needed.

I’m sorry but to think that the Cardinals were doing anything besides acknowledging Donald Trump on the home run celebration is just stupid and Matt Carpenter should know better but I understand why he would sing a different tune to the media when asked about it.

Judging by the replies to the tweet above, Derrick Goold tends to lean on the left side of politics and people are mad at his question as to whether or not it was in support of Trump or not.

Fans on Twitter are suggesting that Derrick Goold, who writes about baseball for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, was having trouble coming to terms with his team showing support for Donald Trump.

I’m not making this any more political than it has to be but that probably makes the most sense here – along with the New York Times who have a long history of left-leaning ideology.

Poor Derrick was likely searching for answers as to why his beloved baseball team was supporting Donald Trump and Matt Carpenter knew better than to make any type of political statement to the liberal media who was foaming at the mouth for a story.

Pretty simple: Show the Cardinals doing the exact same celebration any time before Donald Trump was shot and the story is a big old nothing burger.

But wait! Apparently “DJ Burly Biscuits” does exist…?

Maybe the Cardinals were just doing a DJ celebration and it didn’t have any relation to Donald Trump after all? If not, then it is what it is and that’s okay too.

Maybe we should all be happy that someone running for President of the United States of America wasn’t assassinated after three bullets narrowly missed his head.

Maybe show some sympathy to the fact that the shooter still managed to critically wound two others while killing another in the crowd.

That’s horrifying right? We really need to put the political divide behind us and be better.
