Philly native and 14-year old soccer sensation Cavan Sullivan was at Raising Canes in North Philly today slinging chicken for fans in attendance.
Earlier this year, the Philadelphia Union signed the 14-year old soccer phenom Cavan Sullivan to a four-year contract through 2028 – marking the largest homegrown contract in MLS history.
Born September 28, 2009 in Philadelphia, Sullivan became the fifth-youngest player ever to sign a deal with Major League Soccer. On July 17th, Sullivan made North American sports history as he officially made his debut with the Union against the New England Revolution.
Because Sullivan made his MLS debut before July 29, 2024, he became the youngest player to make his professional debut among the top North American professional sports leagues (MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, NWSL) as well as the youngest player to make his debut among the top five European soccer leagues.
Cavan Sullivan is 5’8”, 150 pounds and will joined his 20-year old brother Quinn Sullivan on the Union MLS squad. He was a major part of the United States Under-15 squad that won their first Concacaf championship in 2023 at just 13-years old. He scored four goals and took home the Golden Ball as the best player in the tournament.
Sullivan also guided the Union U15 team to reach the 2023 Generation Adidas Cup final after wins over academy powerhouses Valencia, Arsenal and Real Madrid – scoring one minute into the match against Arsenal. He was named to the tournament’s Best XI for his performance. Earlier this year, Sullivan helped the Union U17 squad win their second-consecutive GA Cup championship.

Gotta love it. The Sullivan’s are Philadelphia natives and Cavan specifically is already out there interacting with fans. He’ll be on the Union for the next four years before taking his talents overseas to join Manchester City when he turns 18.
According to ESPN, Sullivan has a release clause that will allow him to transfer to English Premier League after he turns 18. Manchester City have agreement with MLS side Philadelphia Union to buy Cavan Sullivan for up to $5 million once the American teenager turns 18.

Record beat, Box Combos to eat! Following his MLS debut last week, Cavan Sullivan broke Freddy Adu’s record as the youngest player in the MLS and is now the youngest to play in any of the biggest pro sports leagues in the world
PHILADELPHIA (July 25, 2024) – At just 14 years and 293 days young, Cavan Sullivan wowed the world as he made his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut during the Philadelphia Union’s 5-1 win over the New England Revolution last Wednesday. Edging out Freddy Adu’s previous record by mere weeks, Sullivan is the youngest player to appear not only in the MLS, but in any of the biggest pro sports leagues in the world. Adu took the news like a champ, tweeting a congratulatory message to Sullivan for his record-breaking debut, with Sullivan noting that he “paved the way for young guys like me.”
Sullivan’s quick rise to fame as the youngest professional MLS player had fans chanting his name from the stands and streets and chanting “Philly! Philly! Philly!” from Raising Cane’s today as he stepped off the field and into the Restaurant to greet jersey-clad fans, aspiring athletes, and proud Philadelphians. He made history yet again – this time as Raising Cane’s youngest partnership deal – when he swapped his cleats for Cane’s Sauce as he geared up for Saturday’s game against Charlotte.
The 14-year-old phenom wasn’t the only Philly player in the building! Sullivan’s 20-year-old brother and Union midfielder, Quinn, also stopped by to show his support, learn the Raising Cane’s ropes, and grab a few Box Combos to go.
“I’m proud to be here at Raising Cane’s representing the Philly Union and loved having my brother here by my side,” said Sullivan. “I wasn’t expecting to see all these fans outside waiting for me. It was awesome!”
Quinn, who scored a goal just before Sullivan entered last week’s game at the 84th-minute mark, immediately celebrated with his brother with one of their signature handshakes – a moment they’d been dreaming of for years. The Union ultimately snagged a 5-1 win over the New England Revolution, with the Sullivan brothers at the center of the celebration.
“As his older brother, I take pride in helping him out,” said Quinn. “I love getting to share these experiences with him and am excited to watch him continue improving his game.”
During their time at the Restaurant, the duo greeted and interacted with fans; signed autographs; and made Chicken Fingers and Box Combos together. Before departing, Sullivan took it to the (makeshift) field to take turns dribbling and goalkeeping with some of his youngest fans.
“Cavan is an outstanding athlete and his accomplishment as the youngest professional MLS player is a remarkable achievement,” said Graves. “He has a great amount of pressure on him as he steps onto the world’s stage and begins his professional career, and it’s great he can experience it all alongside his brother Quinn. I know they’ll both continue blowing everyone away with their talent and skill, and we’ll be rooting them on over the years!”
