Baltimore Orioles designate newly-acquired Cristian Pache for assignment after trade deadline dust finally settles
The Cristian Pache era has officially come to an end in Baltimore. The Orioles made a ton of roster moves as dust finally settles following the MLB Trade Deadline on July 30th and our guy was one of the main casualties.
The Orioles activated DH/OF Eloy Jimenez, OF Austin Slater, and LHP Trevor Rogers. In corresponding moves, they optioned LHP Keegan Aiken and Heston Kjerstad.
They placed INF Jordan Westburg on the 10-Day IL and designated newly acquired Cristian Pache for assignment.Â
Cristian Pache DFA’d by Baltimore Orioles
Honestly, this was bound to happen the second that Cristian Pache left Philadelphia.
The Baltimore Orioles have a crowded outfield already and added Austin Slater and Eloy Jimenez at the deadline. Before anyone gets any ideas, there’s no shot that the Phillies should bring him back when they have Scott Kingery dominating in Lehigh Valley.Â
Someone will snag Pache off waivers. He’ll find his way back to the majors given his ability to play defense and steal bags. Unfortunately, he will remain expendable given his inability to hit at the major league level.
