Eagles claim former New York Jets tight end Kevin Foelsch off waivers

Over the weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they acquired tight end Kevin Foelsch off waivers after he was released from from the New York Jets. In a corresponding move, the Eagles waived rookie tight end McCallan Castles with an injury designation.

Kevin Foelsch played 42 games for the University of New Haven Chargers (Division II) from 2019-2022. After going undrafted in the 2024 NFL draft, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end signed with the Carolina Panthers before getting waived just three days later. Foelsch landed with the New York Jets, was waived, and is now in training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kevin Foelsch Reports to Eagles Training Camp

Obviously, the Philadelphia Eagles already have Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra locked in for their two tight ends heading into the preseason. C.J. Uzomah, Albert Okwuegbunam Jr. and E.J. Jenkins are all behind the two locks on the depth chart, meaning that Foelsch, if anything, will likely be a candidate for the practice squad.

In college, Foelsch caught 73 passes for 660 yards and 16 touchdowns at New Haven. He’s quick on his feet, posting a 4.65 40-yard dash during UConn’s Pro Day. Foelsch’s ability to line up in multiple positions could be a reason for the Eagles to keep him around.

We’ll Kevin Foelsch in action as soon as Friday, when the Eagles travel to Baltimore for their first preseason game of the 2024 season.
