Nick Foles retires from NFL after 11 seasons, will officially retire as an Eagle

Former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles is calling it a career.

On Thursday, Foles announced via social media that he’s officially retiring from the NFL after 11 seasons.

Foles will retire as an Eagle during Philadelphia’s home opener on September 16 vs. the Atlanta Falcons.

The former third-round pick had an unconventional but successful NFL career, tying a league record with seven TD passes in a regular season game vs. the Raiders in 2013 and bringing Philadelphia its first Super Bowl title in 2017.

During that miraculous championship run, all hope had seemed lost when starting QB Carson Wentz tore his ACL during an MVP-caliber season.

Nick Foles stepped up and played arguably the best ten quarters of football you’ll ever see, culminating in a Super Bowl 52 victory over Tom Brady while earning MVP honors.

Foles currently has the highest completion percentage in NFL playoff history (68.1%) and is the only QB with a passing touchdown and receiving touchdown in a Super Bowl.

There were some detours along the way, but Foles’ heart was always with the Eagles, and now he gets to end his career where it all started.

Congratulations on retirement, Nick Foles — Forever a legend.
