Chicago White Sox make MLB history for all the wrong reasons, mathematically eliminated from playoff contention mid-August

The Chicago White Sox continued their embarrassing and historically bad 2024 MLB season last night with a 6-1 loss to the Houston Astros, marking their 27th loss over the past 30 games.

The loss mathematically eliminated the White Sox from playoff contention, making the 2024 team the fastest team in Major League Baseball to be eliminated from the postseason since the start of the divisional era in 1969 — with the division, league, and three Wild Card spots still up for grabs.

Here in Philadelphia, the Phillies were the first team to win 30 games this season back on May 14th. The White Sox didn’t manage that feat until 94 days later on August 16th.

Even if Chicago went undefeated (38-0) for the rest of the season, they would finish with a 68-94 record and miss the playoffs – 26 games below the .500 mark.

Thankfully, the White Sox missed setting history last week, after they stopped a 21-game losing streak against the Oakland Athletics – a team that must be thrilled no one is talking about how bad they are while Chicago’s South Side baseball team continues to play historically bad baseball.

unfiltered, opinionated, and certainly do not care if you like it or not.
