Noah Lyles says he doesn’t know who Nikola Jokic is, proving his ignorance of the NBA

The everlong war between Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles and other professional athletes wages on.

Lyles is currently engaged in a war of words with Dolphins star WR Tyreek Hill, claiming that Hill is ‘clout chasing’ by saying he could beat Lyles in a race.

In his latest attempt to rile up the NBA, Lyles stated during an episode of the Nightcap with Shannon Sharpe that he doesn’t know who three-time MVP Nikola Jokic is.

Lyles: “The problem that I had was, you were given the title of a ‘World Champion’ to people who weren’t facing the world. That’s where I drew the line and said that’s hurtful because you already have those. But you’re giving the title to people who aren’t doing that. Nothing wrong with being a national champion. They are great champions.”

Sharpe: “Let me ask you this. Is Nikola Jokic one of the best players in the world?”

Lyles: “I’ma be honest, I don’t know who that is.”

Excuse me? You’ve never heard of one of the best all-around players in today’s NBA? Even casual basketball fans know who Nikola Jokic is.

Lyles made that statement with such embarrassment that I truly believe he hasn’t watched a second of Jokic, or the NBA, for that matter. If that’s the case, Lyles should never have spoken about NBA players in the first place.

Despite his ignorance, we have to acknowledge Noah Lyles for his performance at the Paris Olympics. He took home gold in the greatest 100m race ever run and captured bronze in the 200m while diagnosed with Covid-19.

Lyles may talk his trash, but he often backs it up. There’s just no need to direct that animosity toward other athletes, especially fellow Americans.
