Disgusting Behavior: MLB Studios created a short film titled ‘The Turnaround’ about Phillies fans giving Trea Turner a standing ovation
The Turnaround, a short film about Trea Turner and Phillies fans giving him a standing ovation last season, will make its world premiere this weekend at the Telluride Film Festival.Â
The Turnaround: A film about Trea Turner and Phillies fans giving him a standing ovation…lol
Don’t Like Trea Turner Standing Ovation movie for a variety of reasons…
My apologies, I had to step away from the keyboard to throw up at the quote used in the graphic above. “Do you boo? Or do you give all the love you can give? Jon’s answer inspired us to make this film.”
If that’s not the lamest shit you’ve ever read…lol – Christ almighty.
Anyways, let’s start with the most obvious reasons why this film sucks already.
Trea Turner arrived in Philadelphia a career .300 hitter. He’s an elite baseball talent that struggled for the first half of his debut season in Philly. He then turned it around and started playing like he has always played throughout his MLB career.Â
I was adamantly against treating Trea Turner like a Make A Wish kid. Turner had eight years of MLB service that indicated his slump for the first half of the 2023 season was an anomaly and the law of averages demanded a return to normalcy at some point.
Plus, it didn’t even last.
Trea Turner and the Phillies also lost in the NLCS to the Arizona Diamondbacks, so I’m not really sure what we are even celebrating or talking about.
Let’s all just revisit last year where we choked away another National League Pennant while Trea Turner hit .200 in the NLCS, including a combined 0-12 in Games 5-7.
The standing ovations were super lame in the first place and I personally was criticized heavily for disagreeing with the entire order when they happened across this website in the comment section and social media.
Higher Ground, a media production company owned and operated by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama is behind this film.
This isn’t a left or right, blue or red issue. It’s just the general disdain for politics.
Please, get me as far away as possible from any political figures getting involved in Philly sports. Don’t want anything to do with that. Period.
Also – I have zero clue who Jon McCann is but I know for damn sure that the name isn’t Jack Fritz, who actually started the ovation thing last Summer.
That’s stolen valor. No need to acknowledge anyone who takes other accounts content on social media and tries to make it their own.Â
A film revisiting last year’s tragic ending in the NLCS is quite literally the last thing this team needs as they are preparing to roll into September, the final month of the MLB regular season before Red October begins.Â

Jon started the Trea Turner ovation a day before Jack Fritz stole the idea. Jon’s YouTube channel, the Philly Captain, and his associated social media accounts all show the date he made the statements about the ovation on August 2nd. Fritz started it on August 3rd. It’s all been documented, acknowledged by Barstool Sports, and even acknowledged by Jack Fritz himself. The only reason the team gave Jack Fritz any semblance of credit was because 94WIP is the flagship radio station of the Phillies.
Who hurt you?
