Tampa Bay Rays fan knocked out home run ball

WATCH: Tampa Bay Rays fan knocked unconscious after taking a home run ball to the head at Tropicana Field

The Tampa Bay Rays hosted the Minnesota Twins last night at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida and one fan took a home run ball straight to the dome, knocking them unconscious in right field.

Twins outfielder Trevor Larnach stepped up to the plate with two outs in the top of the second inning. He crushed a three-run bomb off Ray’s starter Zack Littell, sending the baseball on a rocket to the stands in right field.

The baseball clocked an exit-velo of 112.5 mph and with a fan in prime position to crack SportsCenter Top 10 plays on the night, the opposite happened as he caught the ball with his face, knocking him out cold.

Look, if you’re sitting in those prime home run seats, you’ve got to be on your toes. I’m not saying anyone deserves to get hit by a flying baseball, but come on, you’ve got to be ready to catch or at least dodge anything coming your way—especially at Tropicana Field.

Let’s be real, that place is notorious for its tricky white roof that even gives the pros fits.

The good news? Twins reporter Do-Hyoung Park later tweeted that the Tampa Bay Rays fan was “all right.” And in a classy move, Larnach brought the fan and his kids down to the field, handed them a used bat, and even signed the very ball that caused all the chaos.

Trevor Larnach’s three-run shot ended up being the difference-maker as the Twins edged out the the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4. Not exactly the kind of game souvenir you want, but at least it came with a cool story.
