Saquon Barkley’s three TD debut with Eagles has only been done one other time in franchise history

Saquon Barkley’s Eagles debut couldn’t have gone much better on Friday night against the Packers.

After his first carry went for negative yardage due to the field conditions, Barkley adjusted and effectively took over the game.

The star running back showed off his burst, power, and agility in a historic debut that saw him reach the endzone on three occasions. Only one other player in franchise history has recorded three touchdowns in an Eagles debut — Terrell Owens in 2004 against the New York Giants.

Barkley’s first touchdown came on an 18-yard pass from QB Jalen Hurts on a wheel route.

His subsequent scores were on rushes of 11 yards and two yards. It marks just the second time Barkley has recorded three touchdowns in a game and the first since his rookie season.

Barkley finished the night with 132 scrimmage yards on 26 touches, proving he was well worth the asking price. Giants fans are certainly asking themselves why they let this guy walk following Friday’s performance.
