Saquon Barkley’s teammates delivered nothing but praise following 3 touchdown performance against the Packers

Saquon Barkley wasted no time making a splash in his Eagles debut, delivering a monster three-touchdown performance in their season opener against the Packers. Philly walked away with a 34-29 win in Brazil and Barkley left everyone buzzing.

The former Giants star racked up 109 yards on the ground, scored two rushing touchdowns, and added another 23 yards through the air, capping off with a receiving TD.

It didn’t take long for his new teammates to notice either. Will Shipley, fellow running back, summed it up perfectly: “Unbelievable.”

“I’m just sitting here smiling,” Shipley told NBC Sports Philadelphia. “I’ve seen him do this in camp and OTAs, but for him to put it all together in the season opener? Man, he shined. No one works harder than Barkley, and it shows.”

Let’s rewind. Barkley joined the Eagles in March, signing a three-year deal after an eventful six years with the Giants. There were some high points, like those three 1,000-yard seasons, but things got messy with contract drama, a franchise tag, and eventually a one-year deal for 2023.

So, when free agency hit, Barkley made the jump to Philly, while the Giants turned to Devin Singletary. That storyline? It’s been the talk of the offseason and even got the “Hard Knocks” treatment.

“It’s crazy,” Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson said. “I watched him from afar in New York, never thought I’d be blocking for him.”

Saquon Barkley is good.

Barkley didn’t waste any time making his presence known. He scored his first touchdown on an 18-yard reception in the second quarter, followed that up with a rushing TD, and then capped off his night with a two-yard score late in the third.

Just like that, the Eagles took the lead for good.

Jalen Hurts was clearly pumped to have Barkley on his side. “He’s a great player. He had one hell of a game tonight,” Hurts said after the win. “I’m happy he’s with us. What a debut.”

Barkley and the Eagles are back in action next week when they host the Falcons on Sept. 16. You better believe all eyes will be on him again.
