Dolphins add former Pro Bowl quarterback to following Tua Tagovailoa’s latest concussion

The Miami Dolphins have made a move to bolster their quarterback depth, signing Tyler Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.

Tua Tagovailoa yet again experienced a scary head injury against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football as NFL and Dolphins fans were left holding their breath as Miami’s franchise quarterback laid on the grass at Hard Rock Stadium.

It happened in the third quarter, with Miami getting absolutely destroyed by the Bills 31-10.

Tua was scrambling to keep the drive alive on 4th-and-4 from the Bills’ 13-yard line. He dove head-first for extra yardage and collided hard with Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who came up for the tackle.

Tua’s head slammed into Hamlin’s midsection, and it was immediately clear something wasn’t right. His right arm stretched out awkwardly, and he grabbed his head with his other hand in obvious pain.

Dolphins sign former Pro Bowl QB Tyler Huntley off the Ravens practice squad

Tyler Huntley recently re-signed with the Ravens after a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns. The 26-year-old had been with Baltimore since 2020, making a notable impact in his four seasons there.

Huntley appeared in 20 games for the Ravens, starting nine. His standout moment came in 2022 when he made the Pro Bowl, stepping in for an injured Lamar Jackson.

That year, Huntley threw for 658 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions, and added 137 rushing yards and a score.

In the meantime, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Skylar Thompson will continue as the team’s starting quarterback. Thompson stepped in when Tagovailoa went down with a concussion during Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

As a seventh-round pick, Thompson also had some starts in 2022 when Tagovailoa was dealing with previous head injuries.

While there’s no current timeline for Tua Tagovailoa to return to the football field, he has no intention of retiring despite his recent concussion issues.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Tagovailoa, 26, is determined to keep playing. He will be consulting with specialists in the coming days to establish a timeline for his return, but he remains committed to his NFL career.
