Did The Philadelphia Eagles actually win the Bryce-Huff-Haason Reddick swap? Early signs indicate it’s a Tobias Harris 2.0 situation

Philly fans are already starting to compare Bryce Huff to Tobias Harris, a player who didn’t live up to his hefty contract, after a lackluster start to the 2024-25 NFL season. Huff, who inked a $51.1 million deal over the offseason with the Eagles, has been almost invisible through the first two games.

It’s early, but there’s already a growing feeling that the Eagles should have paid Haason Reddick instead of rolling with Bryce Huff.

With a new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and plenty of offseason changes on the defensive line, the decision not to give Reddick his money and bring in Huff instead is obviously not working out very well through Week 2.

Point Being: New D-Coordinator Vic Fangio. Young Defensive Line. Tons of new faces on the defense as a whole. Biggest offseason addition not working. Questions on whether Reddick was the right choice over Huff.

This video makes it even worse. lol.

I mean honestly, after months of everyone saying that Bryce Huff was the New York Jets best pass rusher last season, I’m questioning whether or not they actually got the right player in Philly this year.

Will the real Bryce Huff please stand up?

In the first two games of this season, Huff has recorded one tackle, with none being solo, and no sacks. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), he generated two pressures during Monday night’s game against the Falcons.

So, while it’s too early to come to any conclusions, I really don’t feel great about how this player swap has panned out for the Eagles. This is another one of those examples as to why sometimes football coaches and front-offices put way too much stock into scheme fits and should just focus on assembling talent with proven results to back it up.

Does anyone give a damn if Reddick can’t drop back in pass coverage? How many times did he come up with a huge sack for the Eagles in the guts of a game? That’s what this comes down to ultimately, and as an original Tobias Harris hater, I will gladly lead the charge for the Bryce Huff hate club.

Until, he proves me otherwise, this looks like a total disaster signing for the Eagles. But again, it may be way too early to tell. The bottom line is that all the talk and hype around Vic Fangio must lead to some corrections on that defensive line. No excuses.
