Phillies clinch first NL East title since 2011
The Philadelphia Phillies are finally National League East Champions. A lot has happened since their last title in 2011, but the Fightins have had a hell of a season in 2024 and managed to beat the Cubs and secure the title on their home field.

The Fightins have been in first place in the division since May 3 and have not had their lead shrink below five games since then. Bryce Harper and Co. dominated the NL East as the best team in baseball most of the season.
This marks the franchise’s third consecutive postseason appearance. The Phils fell to the Houston Astros in the 2022 World Series and were edged out by the Arizona Diamondbacks in a seven-game NLCS last year.
Clearly, there’s unfinished business, and team owner John Middleton let his players know that he wants his “fucking trophy back.”

Of course, the squad still has some to do before the postseason. Home-field advantage is everything, especially in Philadelphia, so they need to stay hot to close out the season and edge the Dodgers for the best record in the NL.
