Report: Britain Covey suffers shoulder injury, expected to miss at least six weeks
The Philadelphia Eagles sustained injuries to several key players in yesterday’s win over the New Orleans Saints, including WR and lead punt returner Britain Covey.
According to Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation, Covey suffered a broken bone in his shoulder and is expected to miss at least six weeks of action.
Covey’s injury came on a reception in the second quarter, where he took a hit from DB Will Harris along the sideline. Covey was seen in a sling after the game.
The injury comes at a bad time for the Eagles, as they’re dealing with injuries to their top two pass-catchers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith as well.
If Brown and Smith are unable to play next week vs. Tampa Bay, that would leave Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson as the only healthy receivers.
Rookie DB Cooper DeJean filled in at punt returner during Covey’s absence, while WR Parris Campbell will likely be signed to the active roster as added depth.
