Darius Slay was fully prepared to give Saints players a ‘stern talking to’ after a string of dirty plays during Eagles’ 15-12 victory on Sunday
Tensions were high during the Eagles 15-12 win over the Saints on Sunday – mainly on two controversial plays that left Darius Slay and DeVonta Smith, sidelined with injuries.
The first incident involved Trevor Penning, who delivered an out-of-bounds block on Slay.

According to Slay, the play was unnecessary as Alvin Kamara had already passed him when Penning continued to drive him out of bounds.
Despite leaving the game due to the hit, Slay shared some positive news about his health. “I had to get an MRI this morning. The season could have been done, but thankfully, the Lord blessed me,” he said. “Everything came back positive.”
Slay plans to stay ahead of the injury with treatment.
However, Slay also expressed his concern about the hit on DeVonta Smith, which he believes was far worse. Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson didn’t mince words either, calling it “the dirtiest [bleep] I ever saw in football.”

“Big dude at 300-something pounds. I’m only about 190,” Slay said, referring to Penning’s size. He added, “I understand you got a job to do, but know when it’s over with. I was already out of the play.”
Well damn. Okay Darius Slay. Now you have my attention.
For a guy that tends to…let’s just say, make “business decisions” when it comes to tackling the fact that you even have something “dark” in you when an opposing playing is taking dirty hits on you is pretty interesting.
I love it actually and wish we would have seen you get back on the field. I honestly didn’t know you had it in you.
I for one thought you were going to give whoever it was a stern talking to and maybe send a few tweets after you ultimately became friends with them after the game but apparently I have misjudged you completely.
As someone who was in attendance with Phans of Philly, the entire game was pretty ugly at times and a lot of Eagles fans wanted retaliation for Smitty specifically but I don’t think people realize how quick of a play that was and how everyone immediately went to their knees on the field.
There really wasn’t much time to react to that one and the game was still a defensive battle up until that point.
Personally, I’ll go no retaliation and just win football games. Something tells me that’s all you’ll get from Slay too – which doesn’t really matter as long as it’s a win at the final whistle.
Plus, when you’re locking down a red hot Saints’ offense and Derek Carr like this, you can the benefit of the doubt more often than not.
