Caitlin Clark’s Phillies commentary goes viral; Tom McCarthy invites her into the booth at Citizens Bank Park ahead of Red October 2024
WNBA Superstar Caitlin Clark showed off her commentary skills in a video that was recorded doing a play-by-play in her hotel room for a game between the Phillies and Brewers a few weeks ago.
What can’t she do at this point?
Caitlin Clark’s connection to the Phillies comes through her boyfriend, a die-hard fan, and she’s already pledger her support for the team as they head into the postseason.

Not gonna lie, @CaitlinClark22 already sounds ready to be an @MLB broadcaster, but consider this a formal invitation to further practice the craft of play-by-play in @MiLB in Indiana with the @TinCaps 🎙️pic.twitter.com/a4G2RedZKv

While it should come as no surprise that this went viral due to the Indiana Fever’s rookie sensation’s clout, it was an overall fun moment that is bringing together two of sport’s most elite fanbases. Yes you read that correctly, Philadelphia fans and Caitlin Clark fans.
Phillies play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy actually ended up extending an invitation to Clark to join their broadcast booth in a response video.
So, perhaps it’s only a matter of time for the face of the WNBA to be calling plays at Citizens Bank Park as we head into October. That seems like more of a reality today after the Indiana Fever were officially eliminated from the Playoffs last night.
Philadelphia and Caitlin Clark feel like a perfect match. It’s a damn shame we don’t have a WNBA team because I would give up our next 15 first round draft picks to start the franchise with her. Who knows, maybe we could get in her in the booth during Red October and the fans bring signs to the games to convince her to come play for our team.
As of right now, all we know is that Philadelphia is one of several cities being considered for an WNBA expansion team by 2028. So, we have time to put together the best free-agent pitch of all time.
Think about it, it could be like when Lebron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat. Except in this case Clark would be joining a team that is brand new and just forming. The other difference is Philadelphia fans are the best in the world unlike those boring, drunk Miami fans, that show up to games at halftime.
