SOFT: NL East ‘rivals’ Mets and Braves celebrate clinching Postseason together after splitting doubleheader
The Mets and Braves played a doubleheader today to decide who would make the postseason. If the NL East rivals split the series, both would advance to the playoffs, keeping the Diamondbacks out in the cold.
It was a shitty situation for the DBacks to be in, and of course, the chips didn’t fall their way. That’s brutal enough, but the scenes after the second game had to have Arizona fans fuming.
Mets and Braves players celebrated together in a downright disgusting, un-American display:

I genuinely can’t believe what I’m watching here. I know for a fact the Phillies wouldn’t celebrate with a division rival if they both clinch the playoffs on the same night.

Watching the Mets and Braves celebrate together is pretty cringy to me; imagine how it is for fans who live for that rivalry. It’s weird to see two teams that have gone at it for so long suddenly acting all buddy-buddy.
And it’s not like the results of a different game were what allowed them both to get in. They knew going into it that if they split the series, they
If the Phillies were in that spot, I’d want them to go all out to sweep their division rival to keep them out of the playoffs. Sadly, that kind of competitive spirit doesn’t exist in Atlanta or New York.
