Nick Castellanos gets boo’d by Phillies fans, takes his anger out on the Mets

What a game. The Philadelphia Phillies pulled off the Game 2 win over New York, thanks in large part to Nick Castellanos’ late game heroics.

Casty, along with the rest of the Phillies lineup, struggled early. Castellanos even got boo’d at one point, and the cameras caught him muttering, “These fucking people,” while he was in the batter’s box.

What happened next was one of the best moments Philadelphia sports has seen in awhile.

In the bottom of the sixth with the Phils down by one, Casty went yard to tie the game with a one-run shot.

Philly and New York exchanged blows the rest of the way. The Mets managed to the tie it up in the top of the ninth, giving the Phillies one final shot to pull off the victory in the bottom of the ninth.

With two runners on base, two strikes on the count, and two outs, Nick Castellanos did what Nick Castellanos does.

Nick Castellanos. Ring It.

You really can’t make this kind of stuff up. The Phillies were dead in the water. They had absolutely no juice and the Mets got out to a 3-0 lead. Then the fans boo’d Casty. And the rest is history.

It’s an all-time Philly sports moment; something that can only really happen in this city. A player gets boo’d for under performing, then gets sarcastic cheers after he stops swinging at everything, and then becomes the hero of the game with a homerun and walk off hit.

It’s proof that booing works. I don’t know what else you need to see.

Castellanos heroics kept the Phillies alive and now they’ll go to New York with the series tied at one-a-piece. Let’s keep it rolling.
