Insider calls Eagles QB Jalen Hurts an “offensive liability” in bombshell comments on coaching staff as well ahead of Week 6 matchup against the Browns

Say whatever you want, but as a Philadelphia Eagles fan you should be fed up with the product on the field through the first five weeks of the 2024 NFL season. Holding a 2-2 record coming out of the bye-week, we’re already entering “now or never” mode and it’s on the players to prove everyone wrong.

It starts with the quarterback.

As much as Jalen Hurts has shown he’s capable of greatness, turnovers are a huge red flag. You can’t expect to win consistently if your quarterback is putting the ball in jeopardy like that, no matter how talented the team is.

The Eagles have all the pieces to make another deep run, but if Hurts doesn’t start protecting the ball, it’s going to cost them in the long run. The bye-week reset is the perfect time for the whole team to regroup, get their act together, and start living up to the hype.

With all of that said, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky dropped somewhat of a bombshell on the current state of the Philadelphia Eagles and surprisingly, I think he made some fair points.

Dan Orlovsky has been pretty consistent in his concerns about the Eagles’ coaching, and if those issues were showing up in the playoffs last year, it’s no surprise that they’re still lingering. If coaching decisions aren’t being addressed, it could be a major reason why we’re seeing some of these same mistakes and lack of adjustments.

Here’s Orlovsky last year…

WATCH: Dan Orlovsky calls out Eagles coaching staff

“That’s a poorly coached football team,” Orlovsky said. “Watch their tape. Number one, since the start of 2023, has anyone gotten better on the team? Jalen Hurts, in a matter of 20 games, has gone from the MVP in the Super Bowl to a liability on offense. And I know Jalen Hurts isn’t lazy.”

His comments take aim at both Hurts and the coaching staff. Labeling Hurts as an offensive liability might be a stretch? He’s currently 11th in passing yards with 930, has 163 rushing yards, and accounted for six total touchdowns.

His numbers show that he’s still contributing in big ways, both through the air and on the ground. While turnovers are definitely a red flag, it’s not like he’s playing poorly across the board.

Calling him a liability is too harsh, especially considering what he’s capable of when he’s on.

I do however agree that it’s clearly a poorly coached football team. And while they have been faced with a lot of injuries on offense, that doesn’t make up for the continued turnovers and lack of discipline in certain areas of the game, which is all a reflection on the head coach Nick Sirianni.

The Eagles will be hosting the Cleveland Browns this Sunday in a very favorable matchup coming off the bye-week. If this team and coaching staff has any plans for a deep postseason run, they will take this extra time off that they had and handle business on Sunday.
