Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has curious attitude change toward HC Nick Sirianni following bye week
Something seems to have sparked a change in Eagles QB Jalen Hurts over the Eagles’ bye week. Whatever the source, the tension that appeared to exist between Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni has now dissipated.
When Hurts addressed the media following Wednesday’s practice, he stated last week was “probably one of the most efficient bye weeks I’ve been a part of in my career, being able to share those moments and talk through some things and build.”
Hurts also gave what felt like a strong endorsement of his coach.
“I’m happy and fortunate that we were able to come together in harmony, have the same goal in mind, and try to get this thing right,” he said.
“I have a ton of confidence in him [Nick Sirianni], a ton of confidence in what he brings, and everything he’s been able to accomplish, and just continue to press on with that.
Everybody goes through different moments, everybody experiences adversity, but we’ve experienced different levels of adversity together and we’re excited for what’s to come.”
Hurts’ tone was starkly different from what it was after the Eagles lost to Tampa Bay two weeks ago. Prior to the bye, Hurts was asked whether he and Sirianni had discussed the message they wanted to convey to the team.
His answer: “We have our moments.”
Did ownership get in Hurts’ ear about supporting his coach? Or did he self-reflect on his own? In either case, it’s a noticeable change.
Let’s hope their newfound cohesion translates to the field on Sunday vs. Cleveland.
