Can’t Lose: Nick Sirianni will be coaching for his job in Week 6 matchup with Browns

After the firing of Robert Saleh by the New York Jets, I can’t help but think Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni will be coaching for his job this week.

You could argue that Saleh is actually a better coach than Sirianni. Despite all of the Jets’ deficiencies, Saleh’s defense was consistently a top-five unit in the NFL. Sirianni, an offensive guy, had to bring in a new offensive coordinator this offseason to help save his offense. At least Saleh has something he can point to in his next interview and say, “Look, at least I was good at something.” Not sure Nick Sirianni will have that same luxury.

For the past calendar year, Nick Sirianni has been a bottom-five head coach in the NFL. Since the beginning of last year, his team has consistently underachieved. Especially on the offensive side of the ball, where he has Pro Bowl level players at nearly every position.

At 2-2 through four games this season and fresh off the most embarrassing loss of his tenure, Sirianni enters Week 6 facing arguably the worst team in the sport right now. He cannot lose this game. I’d argue he has to win this game by at least two scores — something the Eagles haven’t done since October 22 of last year.

Not to mention Sirianni and his Eagles are coming off a bye week and are about to get AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Lane Johnson back in their lineup. Again, you cannot lose this game.

The Cleveland Browns are led by Deshaun Watson (AKA Leroy Bickerstaff), and we all know his story at this point. He’s a piece of shit human who might actually be worse at football than he is at being a decent person. They haven’t scored 20 points in a game this season and they just look miserable every time they take the field.

The Eagles are a much better team than the Browns. They have to win this game and do it convincingly. If not, I would strongly consider moving off Nick Sirianni. Just rip the band-aid off and give Kellen Moore a shot to see if the true version of his offense can work.

Now, if you fire Sirianni six weeks into a season, you shouldn’t have brought him back in the first place. It would make the organization look very, very bad. Like, New York Jets level bad. But I’m not sure you can afford to keep this guy around if you can’t even beat the Browns coming off a bye with a fully healthy roster.

If the Eagles lose this game, don’t be shocked if Nick Sirianni is the next coach to get kicked to the curb.

  1. If you think Saleh is a better coach then Sirianni then you clearly don’t know football.
