Eagles Rumors: Avonte Maddox named as potential trade acquisition for Baltimore Ravens
As we all know, Eagles GM Howie Roseman is always looking to wheel-and-deal at the NFL trade deadline.
This year feels a little different though. Instead of going out and getting a star to help put them over the top, the Eagles could look to off-load some of their veterans to make way for some of their young, budding stars. In particularly at the cornerback position.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin laid out trade scenarios for every team in a recent article. At the CB, he sees the Eagles moving off Avonte Maddox, trading him to the Baltimore Ravens.
Benjamin on a potential Eagles-Ravens trade
Starting corner Marlon Humphrey is banged up, and so is slot regular Arthur Maulet. The Eagles would probably like to see rookie Cooper DeJean in a bigger role, making Maddox expendable.
With Cooper DeJean slated to make his first career start this Sunday against Cleveland, Maddox’s days as an Eagle are numbered. The team cut him this past offseason, but decided to bring him back as an insurance policy. Now that DeJean is ready to start, Maddox is being relegated to the bench.
Maddox has been abysmal as a starter this season, posting a 52.8 overall grade on PFF while surrendering 10 receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown through four games. Every offense has singled him out thus far. Thankfully, Vic Fangio recognized that and decided to make the change.
The Eagles probably wouldn’t get much for Maddox on the trade block. But if there’s a team desperate enough — like the Ravens if injuries continue to pile up — they might be able to get a little something something for him.
