Nick Sirianni apologizing to Eagles fans was a mistake

In case you missed it, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni got into with Eagles fans towards the end of the team’s 20-16 win over the lowly Cleveland Browns. When asked about the moment by reporters on Monday, he decided to apologize for the outburst at the end of the game.

Nick Sirianni expressed regret for how he directed his energy towards the fans:

I understand that Sirianni was probably told by Howie and/or ownership to apologize to the fans if asked about the incident, so I can’t blame him for doing so in that regard. Fans were NOT happy either.

That being said, I kinda hate that ended up apologizing. Was his outburst towards the fans a bit embarrassing and out of touch? Sure! But that doesn’t matter anymore.

Either Sirianni and the Eagles put the nail in the coffin on the antics right here right now or they let him off the leash completely. I was distinctly annoyed by his lack of composure on Sunday, but today I’m leaning towards the latter option.

This apology capped off a totally bizarre Week 6 for Nick Sirianni, but he simply cannot stop here. You don’t just shave your head and yell at fans and return to normal. That’s like George Costanza quitting on Friday and showing up to work on Monday like nothing happened.

So I propose we let Sirianni descend into the darkest, most twisted parts of his mind in order to coach this team. We’ve tried to contain him and we’ve failed, so this is the only option we have left.

Let him paint his face like the Joker if he wants to. Wheel him out in a straight jacket and a muzzle like Hannibal Lecter if it gets the job done.

Hell, I want to see him at the tailgate ripping an Eagles fan’s heart of of his chest and eating it raw. If he needs to slow roast one of his coordinators and consume them in front of the team at the NovaCare Complex, that’s fine with me.

You may think I’m crazy, and you’d be right to think so, but I care about winning. What we need to do to get there is secondary.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
