Eagles DT Moro Ojomo is proving to be a 7th-round steal
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Texas defensive tackle Mojo Ojomo with the 249th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Now in year two, Ojomo is proving to be an absolute steal.
He’s only playing 33 percent of the Eagles defensive snaps through five games, but his snap count has steadily increased throughout the season. He’s fresh off his best game to date, recording two pressures, two QB hurries, and a QB hit against Cleveland.
Ojomo has a 11.9% pressure rate this season, the best of any interior lineman on the team. His 15.9% pass-rush win rate ranks first among all interior lineman from his draft class and fifth among all defensive tackles in the NFL.
Not only is he putting up soild metrics, he’s doing the dirty work along the interior line to free up linebackers and his fellow lineman.
Eagles have to be happy with this 7th-round selection

If Ojomo continues to develop throughout the season and his playing time increases, what will the future hold for the Eagles young interior defensive line?
Milton Williams is in a contract year and while the team has had preliminary discussions on an extension, nothing is set in stone yet. Jalen Carter is obviously here to stay, he’s a budding star in this league. And then we have Jordan Davis — a former first-round pick who hasn’t come close to living up to expectations.
Personally, I always lean towards guys who are over achieving as opposed to underachieving. Ojomo is a former seventh-round pick who seems to get better with every game. For every moderately good game Davis has, he has three games where you don’t even realize he’s on the field.
I have to wonder how long the leash is with Davis at this point. If Ojomo is the real deal, does Davis become expendable? It’s a question worth asking. The organization rarely moves off first-round picks so quickly, unless your name is Jalen Reagor. Davis hasn’t been that bad, but he’s certainly under performing.
Regardless of how I feel about Davis, that’s a discussion for another day. Moro Ojomo is playing well and the Eagles have four viable interior defensive lineman all under the age of 27. Can’t help but be happy about that.
