Weird Sixers Injuries: Add Jared McCain’s ‘pulmonary contusions’ to the list
Rookie shooter Jared McCain just proved the Sixers are a cursed franchise. The Duke product took a brutal fall and, while he seemingly avoided a concussion, wound up sustaining “pulmonary contusions.” I know, I haven’t even heard of that either.
Jared McCain’s nasty fall is just one example in a long list of bizarre Sixers injuries:
Pulmonary contusions

Sesame seed allergy
Bells Palsy
Gastroenteritis
Thoracic outlet syndrome
Orbital bone fractures
Getting hit by a CAR
Displaced Meniscus flap
more commonly. jones fractures, meniscus tears, navicular bone fractures, etc
Never a dull moment with the Sixers🙃 https://t.co/WTFrgyC98M
Shout out Will Ruck for putting this list together. I knew it was a long one, but this is something else.
The crazy part is this list only dates back to around 2018. That’s an average of 1.33 (repeating of course) weird injuries per year since then. And that doesn’t even include the flukey Paul George injury from earlier this preseason.
As far as I’m concerned, the 76ers are a snake-bitten franchise. This is just as far as injuries are concerned and doesn’t even take into account things like Ben Simmons forgetting how to play basketball.
Sometimes I think it might be better if they folded the franchise and started a new one here in the city. That may be blasphemous to say, but if anything it should be done in the name of player safety.
Hopefully McCain makes a swift recovery. He looks to be just what the Sixers need from a shooting and energy standpoint.
