Campbell, 27, signed a one-year deal in free agency to compete for the WR3 job. A groin injury sidelined him for several weeks in training camp, leading to Britain Covey, Johnny Wilson, and John Ross getting reps in his place.
Once the Eagles acquired former first-round pick Jahan Dotson from Washington, Campbell became expendable and was among final roster cuts.
The Eagles invited Campbell back to their practice, and after some self-reflection, Campbell accepted. He was elevated for Weeks 3 and 4 amid A.J. Brown’s injury and caught a touchdown pass in the 33-16 loss to Tampa Bay.
With the Eagles receivers now at full health, Campbell is likely seeking other opportunities as teams around the league deal with injuries.
