Report: Eagles release veteran wide receiver

The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly parting ways with one of their offseason additions.

According to FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles have released veteran wide receiver Parris Campbell.

Campbell, 27, signed a one-year deal in free agency to compete for the WR3 job. A groin injury sidelined him for several weeks in training camp, leading to Britain Covey, Johnny Wilson, and John Ross getting reps in his place.

Once the Eagles acquired former first-round pick Jahan Dotson from Washington, Campbell became expendable and was among final roster cuts.

The Eagles invited Campbell back to their practice, and after some self-reflection, Campbell accepted. He was elevated for Weeks 3 and 4 amid A.J. Brown’s injury and caught a touchdown pass in the 33-16 loss to Tampa Bay.

With the Eagles receivers now at full health, Campbell is likely seeking other opportunities as teams around the league deal with injuries.
