AJ Brown got weird again when asked about his ‘best ever’ parting message
I’m tired of writing about AJ Brown, honestly. It’s taken a far larger toll on my mental stability than I’d like to admit. I’m tired, boss. But as they say, no one gives a shit about your feelings, so here we go.
AJ left a parting message in the Eagles facility after being traded. On a picture of himself in the NovaCare Complex, he wrote, “The best to ever play here. Always Open.” People are up in arms about it. At this point, I don’t have the energy to get worked up over it. This is who AJ Brown is. Is he actually the best to ever wear an Eagles uniform? Not even close. He’s not even the best wideout to ever play here. Moving on.
At Patriots spring practice on Thursday, AJ was asked about his message. Once again, he deflected and acted weird about it.
AJ Brown on his parting message: “I’m not gonna get into that. I appreciated my time in Philly. I’m where my feet are. That’s the only thing that matters.”
This man is such a fucking weirdo. Maybe he’s a down-to-earth guy in his private life, but his public persona is just so strange. Just answer the damn question. Why’d you even write it if you aren’t going to stand on it?
AJ Brown talks about mental health a lot, and I will always respect that about him, no matter what happened in Philly. The more I see of him, and the more I reflect on his final year here, the more obvious it becomes that he deals with some heavy mental stuff. He’s his own worst enemy. Football and Eagles shit aside, that’s sad.
Dealing with mental health struggles doesn’t make someone blameless for their actions, and I’m not saying that at all. As a grown man, he could have handled a lot of things better in Philly.
It feels like this whole move to New England was his way of bailing on whatever he was dealing with internally. Like he was running from his problems instead of facing them. Maybe I’m reading it all wrong, but between the way he’s carried himself since the trade and everything that transpired before it, he looks like a man crying out for help. Not even joking, I think he needs help.
And I hope he gets it.
