Wild Eagles Trade Rumors: Cooper Kupp linked to Philly to as it feels like a match made in heaven ahead of 2024 NFL trade deadline

Could Cooper Kupp be the next big-name wide receiver on the move? It’s starting to look that way. Rumors are swirling that the Los Angeles Rams are open for business, and Kupp’s name has surfaced in trade talks. With the Rams seemingly entering a rebuilding phase, teams in need of a star wideout are on alert—and one team being linked to him is none other than the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to sources, the Rams reportedly want a second-round pick for the former Super Bowl MVP, and are willing to take on some of his 2024 salary. This seems like a steep asking price for Kupp, considering the fact that the Browns and Raiders only got third-round picks for both Amari Cooper and Davante Adams. However, the pick that the Raiders got from the Jets could end up turning into a second rounder if Adams becomes an All-Pro, or if he’s still on the active roster if the Jets make either the AFC Championship game or the Super Bowl.

If you think Cooper Kupp is just a slot receiver, you’re missing the full picture. Kupp’s game goes far beyond catching passes—he’s a critical asset in the running game with his physical blocking and high football IQ. His ability to read defenses and create space with smart pre-snap motions adds another dimension to any offense.

Now, imagine how that skill set would fit with the Philadelphia Eagles. With their dynamic rushing attack, Kupp’s blocking prowess would be invaluable, not to mention the headaches his versatility would cause for opposing defenses. Pairing him with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith would give the Eagles an unstoppable receiving corps, capable of exploiting defenses both through the air and on the ground.

Eagles linked to Cooper Kupp

While there may not be a whole lot of steam behind Howie Roseman and the Eagles trading for Cooper Kupp, as the GM always checks in with team’s on the status of key players, I also wouldn’t rule it out entirely. Some of the things I believe that would prevent the birds from going all-in on a move like this is the already high salary cap hit they have with wide receivers.

On top of that, Kupp has dealt with his fair share of injuries, including this season, so there’s some risk involved trading for a player who may not be at full health. But, the biggest reason why I don’t see the Eagles pulling this off, is simply the draft capital being too high.

So, in short, while adding Kupp could certainly elevate the Eagles offense to another level, it would come with perhaps too many risks. This decision would all come down to how much the Eagles believe Kupp could push them over the top in their pursuit of a Super Bowl.
